History

Tillotson Parish has served Albemarle and Buckingham counties. Old Buckingham Church belonged to this parish, until 1784, when it became Buckingham Baptist Church.[1] Goodwin Church, the church at Curdsville, and another possibly near the Methodist Female College all fell within the bounds of Tillotson Parish.[2]

Meade's 1861 history of Tillotson Parish is available online.[2]

Parish Records

The Library of Virginia has collected two sets of Tillotson Parish records. One covers the years 1771-1796, and the other 1773-1796.[4] In 1861, Meade said the vestry book had been lost.[2]
