Usually people start their search for a death date by trying to locate a death certificate.

Clickable Utah county map that take people to county. if you are after a "real" death certificate dated pre 1887 you need to go to the page in the wiki pertaining to the county your ancestor died in, and then click Vital Records in the Table of Contents.

Pre ? or death certifdoesn't exist?  Many rec ypes give death INFORMATION, if "real" death records don't exist for the time period your ancestor died (aka pre ) or if you can't find a "real" death record go to  a discussion on  Utah record types have death INFORMATION. The Table of Contents on that page ranks the "best" death information record types first.
