Bethany Waterbury, owner and founder of Ancestor Hound Research.
I was first bitten by the genealogy bug eight years ago after my first son was born. Since then I have been actively researching my children’s family lines, which has allowed me to explore records throughout the US, Canada, England, Germany and Poland.
I accepted work from my first clients in 2009 and since then have assisted many in their search to learn more about their ancestors. I particularly enjoy debunking or adding credibility to old family stories, which is made easier through my keen eye for detail and thorough knowledge of many genealogical sources.
Like many professional genealogists, my career path has been varied. I am a licensed veterinarian and have worked in both small animal clinics and humane societies. I have been a college instructor in anatomy and physiology for biomedical science and veterinary technology students. Most recently I returned to graduate school to pursue a degree in epidemiology and public health. My varied background has instilled in me many of the characteristics of a good genealogical researcher – complex problem solving skills, creativity and curiosity, and the drive and determination to find answers.
I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogy Society. I successfully completed the Summer 2012 Boston University Professional Genealogy Certificate Program, taught by some of the most well-respected genealogists in the United States.
