Hi, Lise! I have recently joined the Community Services team and very much need to talk with you directly. My new assignment is with moderators and a very recent addition of "page adopters," which consists of societies and groups. You are the moderator for Illinois and the Illinois State Genealogical Society has "adopted" Illinois. So, you and I need to talk so a conversation can be started across the board to understand the differences, similarities, and overlap in these roles and to promote encouragement and collaboration. This "page adopters" came from the recent FGS conference in Knoxville. My number is 801-240-4530. Thanks, [[User:AdkinsWH|AdkinsWH]] 16:43, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, Mrs. Lembly, for the encouraging words about the Orange, California FHC and Periodicals pages. We have had a website for a few years, but the powers-that-be want them eliminated in favor of the wiki pages. So, we are trying to learn wiki-speak. :-)

At the Directors meeting earlier this year, we were told to try to use Riverton's site as a template, which I did not find helpfull at all.  At this time I am waiting for approval of an image (our logo) to put on the site. After I'm done, I hope ours will be a better "template", than Riverton's.  But, I'm still on a pretty steep learning curve.[[User:Jimmyk418|Jimmyk418]] 17:25, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Some users have reported that the red color of the article title links in search results are confusing because in a Mediawiki site, a red link means a link to a page that has no content. There is a poll on the forums as to whether to make the links blue instead, which would also conform to what Google and Bing do.

Thanks, Sister Embley, for continually contributing to the Virginia portion of the Wiki. As the moderator for this section, I hope that you will continue your efforts. Wouldn't it be great if the Wiki could become the most comprehensive starting point for researchers?Gregorybean 04:23, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Where should wikiproject contributors communicate?

People who work on writing projects on the wiki are asking for an online venue they can use to talk about...

  • how to organize projects,
  • how and where to recruit contributors
  • how to motivate project members
  • how to track progress on projects
  • Manual of Style issues that we need to settle to avoid rework
  • ...and other stuff.

Could you go to the wiki feedback forum and give your opinion as to what tool(s) we should choose to communicate? The thread where we will discuss this is Which tools for wikiproject contributors to communicate? Ritcheymt 16:24, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Please vote on new name for Reviewer role

The wiki community is voting on a proposed renaming of the Reviewer role so that we can give the role to anyone we trust to upload their own images without review. If you care about the name of this role, please discuss the issue and cast your vote at FamilySearch Wiki talk:Reviewer. Ritcheymt 16:47, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Welcome!

 Welcome...

Hello, Lembley, and welcome to FamilySearch Wiki! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

It was decided at the community on November 17, that regular attendees at the meeting would be given an opportunity to review the welcome message and test out the {{helpme}} template.

Again, welcome!

Weigh in on FamilySearch Wiki talk:Naming a Project?

Please vote on search result title link color

Some users have reported that the red color of the article title links in search results are confusing because in a Mediawiki site, a red link means a link to a page that has no content. There is a poll on the forums as to whether to make the links blue instead, which would also conform to what Google and Bing do. Please read the thread/explanation and vote. To all FamilySearch Wiki Contributors: An apology is in order...

By way of introduction, my name is Ben Bennett and I’ve recently joined the FamilySearch team as the product manager for the Wiki and Forums. Put simply, my job is to ensure that your experience, as contributors and users of the Wiki and Forums is excellent. To this end, an apology is in order.
As you know, we recently implemented a new user ID/sign in process for the FamilySearch Wiki. As we implemented this new system, I personally heard from many of you. You shared with me problems that were occurring for you as you tried to sign in, edit or do other things that resulted in lost work, lost time and frustration for you, our key contributors and users. Please accept my sincere apology for the poor performance and poor experience associated with the Wiki during the past few weeks. Please also accept my commitment that the FamilySearch team will learn from this experience and do all that we can to prevent situations like this in the future. To this end, I wanted to share with you ...CONTINUE

You're Welcome

I'm glad you found the link to Cook County, Illinois military veterans useful. I thought it was a pretty neat resource, too :-) --Ajcrow 00:26, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Quick Note of Appreciation

We wanted to send out a quick letter of appreciation for all your hard work and dedication in getting the FamilySearch Records project off the ground. The information you provide is invaluable to those users who are searching out further information about collections in FamilySearch; it helps them make a deeper connection with their research, especially when it has to do with their own ancestry. It’s your contributions that are keeping the project rolling forward. Thank you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We’d love to hear from you and help you out in any way we can.

Sincerely,

The FamilySearch Records Team
