FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a Family History Center, a branch facility of the Family History Library.

The Valpariaso Family History Center welcomes all who want to find their ancestors.  Please order films online or come and view our extended collection of extended loan films

Databases and Software

  • FHC Portal: This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for subscriptions.

Hardware and Equipment

  • We have computers and printers, microfilm readers and a microfilm printers.

Staff Research Specialties

We also offer training in Family Search Indexing and help with using other genealogy websites.


Resources in the Local Area

Northwest Indiana Genealogy Society meets each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in either the Valparaiso Branch of the Porter County Public Library or the Lake County Library.  The Valparaiso library also has an extensive genealogy collection as well as readers and other materials.
