The chapelry of Walton-on-the-Hill St Mary. Edge Hill was created a chapel of ease in 1814 from, and lying within the boundaries of Walton on the Hill St Mary ancient parish.

WALTON-ON-THE-HILL (St. Mary), a parish, in the union and hundred of West Derby, S. division of Lancashire, 3 miles (N. by E.) from Liverpool, on the road to Preston. [1]
