The county is named after Revolutionary War General "Mad" Anthony Wayne (1745-1796).[1]

1808--Wayne County was created 13 February 1808 from Columbiana County. The original Wayne County disappeared, in 1803, when Ohio became a state. County seat: Wooster [2]
