Northward the stake is bounded by the Parowan Stake, and eastward by the Kanab Stake. South the stake extends to the Grand Canyon of the Colorado in Arizona, and west to the Saint George Stake.


History Timeline up to about 1930

This timeline (arranged by year) includes events that affected records, record-keeping, and movements of Mormons in this area.

  • 1877 - St. George Stake was organized on April 7.
  • 1877 - Kanab Stake, Utah was organized on April 18.
  • 1929 - St. George Stake was divided into an eastern part and a western part, the western part to continue as the St. George Stake, Utah and the eastern part organized as the Zion Park Stake.

  • 1862 - Shonesburg was organized as a branch.
  • 1889 - Soon after this date the Shonesburg Branch was discontinued, and the few saints who were left were transferred to the Rockville Ward.
