Research Notes: There was a Peter Elmore living along Totasky Creek, Richmond County, Virginia who was the subject of a headright in 1657. He was born circa 1627 and died after 1681. This Peter, in all probability was the father of Peter Elmore born circa 1643. Peter2 outlived all his children but one and named all his grandchildren in his last will which was proved 5 October, 1726 in Richmond County, Virginia. Peter's oldest son Peter3 had five sons. The youngest was John Elmore born 1703 and died 1757. His will was proved 3 October, 1757 in Richmond County, Virginia. John had four sons and two daughters. One son George born 1722 and died 1792. He married in 1743 and had eight sons and one daughter. Peter1 may have had a brother named Fauntleroy, born about 1630, died after 1681, who had a son named Francis who married Anne Allen on 2 Dec 1677 in Richmond County, Virginia.

1. Thomas Elmore [5816] was born about 1642 in Warboys Parish, Huntingdonshire, England. He married Rebecca Austin in 1667, daughter of JAMES AUSTIN. She was born about 1647 in Huntingdonshire, England.

2. Peter Elmore [1857] was born about 1643 in Richmond County, Virginia, and died 1 December 1725 in Richmond County, Virginia. He married Charity Bock about 1674. She was born before 1652. The following is an abstract of Peter's will dated 5 September 1720 in Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia and proved 5 October 1726:

"Wife Charity; grandsons William Elmore, Charles Elmore, William Everett, George Pettery, Josiah Elmore, Thomas Elmore, John Elmore, and Beck Elmore; daughter Frances; executor: wife; witnesses: Bartholomew Richard Dodson, Thomas Dodson, William Hueitt."

Research note: Some researchers list a son Francis who married Ann Allen on 2 Dec 1677. There is a record in the North Farnham Parish Registry of this marriage but this is apparently not the son of Peter and Charity since the abstract of his will lists a daughter Frances. Viewing the original will may answer this question.

3. Ann Elmore [5629] was born about 1654 in Rappahannock (now Richmond), Virginia, and died 1 August 1715 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia. She married (1) Charles Dodson in 1678 in Rappahannock County, Virginia, son of Jesse Dodson and Judith Hagger. He was born about 1649 in Rappahannock County, Virginia, was christened in 1650 in Rappahannock County, and died before 6 February 1704/05 in Richmond County, Virginia. On 8 July 1680 they lived in Rappahannock County, Virginia. Charles' Last Will and testament was signed on 8 July 1680, Rappahannock County. She married (2) John Hill before 3 July 1706. He was born about 1650 in Richmond County, Virginia.
