John Rogers was born in 1617 in England. He emigrated in 1635 and settled in Surry County, Virginia. He married Mary (Atkins?) in about 1645. They had three sons. John died in about 1685. Traces Rogers descendants for eleven generations to the author's son, Edward Maurice Rogers, Jr. (b. 1957). Descendants lived mainly in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
