General and special censuses of the colonial period (16th-18th centuries) from the Republic of Panamá including the provinces of Coclé, Chiriquí, Panamá, and Veraguas. Includes a contents index, prepared by the National Archive of Colombia in Bogotá, at the beginning of each film.

Las visitas enviadas por la Audiencia fueron instrumentos de control en la administración colonial y su objetivo principal era establecer la taza de tributos. La visitas generales obedecieron a quejas por abusos y excesos en la administración de la Hacienda y excesos en el trato dado a la población indígena. La documentación de estas visitas que es similar a la de un padrón, llamadas también "visitas de la tierra", describen la situación y condición de diversos estados sociales particularmente el de la población indígena.

Incluye un índice temático, preparado por el Archivo Nacional de Colombia en Bogotá, al comienzo de cada filme.
