Chiefly the descendants and some ancestors of John Ulrich Swope. John, son of Yost Schwab and Anna Katharina, was born in Germany in 1707. John and his siblings immigrated to America and most settled in the vicinity of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, John moved to Virginia near Augusta. After coming to the U.S. he took the name Joseph. Descendants lived mainly in Virginia.
