He married Shirley Ann Lavery 12 July 1975 in Sumner, Nebraska. Ancestors and relatives have lived mainly in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Colorado and Germany.
