Philip Crume was born 9 August 1724 in Prince William County, Virginia. His parents were Daniel Croome and Elizabeth Brooks. He married (1) Sarah Withers 23 December 1749 in Frederick County, Virginia. They had twelve children. He married (2) Anna Barrett, daughter of Margaret Koffman, 9 September 1788 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. They had five children. Philip died 20 April 1801 in Riverside, Nelson County, Kentucky. Descendants have lived mainly in Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas Missouri and Texas.

Includes Crume, Marks, Birkhead, Burkhead, Howey, Kerchival, Klinglesmith, Chezem, Hilbish, Summers, Beam, Berry and other related families.
