Notes

"Selected for inclusion in this book are all acts found with genealogical information. While these include primarily divorces, emancipations (of slaves and minors), name changes, and adoptions, it also includes other acts where family relationships are spelled out or in which deaths (including slaves) are noted. Examples include legitimization of children, probate and inheritance matters, naturalizations, payments for autopsies, and one permission to marry between an uncle and his niece (1822). Additionally, pension for men who served in the War of 1812 and their widows are included along with a few items involving Confederate soldiers or officers." -- Introd.
