Richard Nelms married Ann _______, possibly in Northumberland Co., Virginia, prior to March 1663. They had a least six children. Presley Helms, Junior, a descendant, and son of Presley Helms (1730-ca. 1797) and Elizabeth Rout Helms, was born in Bute Co., North Carolina in 1767. He married prior to 1814 Ann (Nancy) Montgomery Ingram (1794-1863), the daughter of Joseph "Redhead" Ingram and Catherine (Katie) McCaskil Ingram. They had three sons and two daughters. He died in Anson Co., North Carolina, in 1841. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri and elsewhere.
