Joseph West (1718-1802) was the son of John West and (2)Sarah Pearson of Upper Providence in Pennsylvania. Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Pearson and Margery Smith of Marple. Joseph married Jane Owen (1720-1791), daughter of John Owen and Hannah Maris. Joseph's father John (b.1690) was born at Long Crendon, Bucks, England and married (1) Elizabeth Beisley in 1714. He was a descendant of Sir Thomas de West who was knighted in 1326. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given. John and some other members of the West family were Quakers who emigrated to Pennsylvania and settled there. Joseph and Jane West moved with their family to Fairfax Co., VA.
