William Laine (Lane) was born about 1700 and died after 1778. He lived in Goochland Co., Virginia. The Layne-Lain-Lane families lived predominantly in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Arkansas.
