The marriage index has been filmed twice. Misfiled entries are included at the end of the index.

Information for the marriage and death indexes was compiled from the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Evening Journal, Chicago Democrat, Chicago Evening Post, Chicago Record-Herald, Chicago Daily News, Chicago Examiner, and the Inter-Ocean. The death index also contains entries from the Democratic Press.

Some of the entries in the death index appear to be taken from records in the county recorder's office, Cook County, Illinois.
