The United Congregational Church of Bridgeport, Connecticut was organized in 1916 by the union of the First and Second Congregational Churches of Bridgeport. The First Church was known in 1691 as Pequonnock Society in Fairfield and Stratford. The name was changed May 1701 to Stratfield Society and formally changed May 1847 to Bridgeport, First Congregational Church.
