Joseph Davidson was born in 1755 in Ireland and immigrated to to Rockbridge County, Virginia with his father, John Goolman Davidson, who was killed by the Indians in 1795. Joseph married Matilda Amanda Patton (ca. 1757). Descendants lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, Montana, Tennessee and elsewhere. Some descendants became Mormons.
