Misc. receipts, correspondence, etc., found in the papers of the late Samuel Alexander Woods, treasurer of the Soldiers' Board of Relief, Darlington District, 1863-1865. Presented to Horace W. Rudisill by Walter DuBose Woods.

The Board levied an annual tax which was used for the relief of families of soldiers who had volunteered in the service of South Carolina or the Confederacy.

Darlington District became Darlington County in 1868.
