Daniel McNair (1748-1811) emigrated from Scotland to Virginia and moved to North Carolina and Georgia. He was a Revolutionary soldier and died in Richmond County, Georgia. John McNear (1702- 1798) emigrated from Scotland to Sheepscot, Maine and married Mary Shirley. Thomas McNeir (fl.1750-1781) emigrated from England to Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Maryland and married Nancy Burgess. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New England, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, and Quebec.
