Chiefly ancestors and descendants of the author, Alonzo A. Hopkins. He was born in 1873 on Ugly Branch, near Lerona, Plymouth District, Mercer County, West Virginia, the son of Lewis M. Hopkins (1849-1935) and Mary Elizabeth Keaton Hopkins (b. 1853). He married Sadie Clair Caldwell in 1903. They had four children, 1904-1914. She died in 1914. He married 2) Lulu Pearl Robbins Bray in 1925. They had one son. A.A. Hopkins taught school in Summers and Mercer Counties West Virginia, for fifty six years and served in the West Virginia legislature.

Ancestors include: Charles Hopkins (ca. 1760-ca. 1850) of Belfast, Ireland, and Franklin County, Virginia -- Thomas Farley (b. ca. 1600) of England and James City County, Virginia -- Daniel Koch/Cook (ca. 1765-before 1840) of Barvaria, Germany, and what is now Summers County, West Virginia -- James Keaton (1745-ca. 1808) of Orange and Greenbrier Counties, Virginia -- William Brown (b. ca. 1760) of Scotland, Virginia, and what is now Summers County, West Virginia.
