Elijah Hastings Burford (1682-1771) immigrated in 1713 from Burford, Oxford County, England to Amherst County, Virginia, and married Mary Jane Hastings in 1725. Daniel James Burford (b.1684) immigrated in 1713 with his first cousin, Elijah Hastings Burford, and married Martha Jane Morley in 1719. Elijah was the immigrant ancestor of Miles Washington Burford, and Daniel was the immigrant ancestor of Nancy jane Burford, parents of the compiler. Descendants and rela- tives lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and elsewhere.
