Some correspondence is filed under the name of the correspondent rather than the subject of the letters. Some material was filmed out of alphabetical order.

Contains genealogical correspondence, newspaper clippings, including obituaries and a series of articles "Pace setters of South Bend", pedigree charts, family groups sheets, pamphlets, copies from published books, research notes, biographical and genealogical sketches, issues of family periodicals, Bible records, etc. Most individuals or families were from South Bend, St. Joseph County, or elsewhere in northern Indiana, or had ties to the South Bend area.
