John Hackley first appears in old Rappahannock County, Virginia, records in 1687. He married Elizabeth Andrews, widow of James Andrews. They had eight children. He died in Essex County in 1698 or 1699. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri.

Includes typed transcript of an article from the Armstrong Herald, Armstrong, Missouri, June, 1898; transcript of the wills of Elizabeth Hackley and John Hackley; and transcript of the Revolutionary record of Francis Hackley.
