Contents: bk. I. Scotch-Irish background -- bk. II. William Scott of Scotland, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky -- bk. III. Samuel Galloway of Scotland, his heirs and descendants.

William Scott was born ca. 1738, according to tradition on the ocean between Ireland and America. He married Helen Montgomery near Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1767. They had four children, 1769-1774. The family migrated from Pennsylvania to the Louisville, Kentucky, area, in 1778 with George Rogers Clark. He helped defend the supplies on Corn Island when Clark conquered Vincennes, Indiana, and the Illinois country. He died in 1804 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky, Indiana, and elsewhere.

Includes the Congleton, Goodwin, King, and other related families.

Samuel Galloway was born in the southwest district of Scotland. He and his wife, Elizabeth Graham, were the parents of seven sons, all born in Scotland. It is not know when the family immigrated to Pennsylvania, or if Samuel Galloway ever immigrated. Elizabeth Graham Galloway was killed by Indians in Pennsylvania in 1755. Her youngest son, George Galloway, was born ca. 1710 in Wigton of Kircudbright County, Scotland. He was living in the Janiata Valley, Pennsylvania, before 1750. He married Rebecca Junkin (1720-1780) of French Huguenot descent in 1741. They had nine children, 1742-1757. He died in 1793 probably in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and elsewhere.

Includes the Collins, Junkin, Kilpatrick, and other related families.

Includes an index of some surnames, exclusive of Scott and Galloway and a list of addressess of some Scott and Galloway descendants as of November, 1958.

Also available on microfilm and digital images.
