Francis Willis (d.1689/1691) immigrated from England to York (later Gloucester) County, Virginia. Robert Willis (1773-1844) of Barnwell County, South Carolina was a direct descendant in the seventh generation. His full name was Robert Carter Willis Jr., and he was a son Robert Carter Willis Sr. and Martha Allen of Gloucester and Berkeley Counties, Virginia. Robert Willis (1773-1844) first moved to Edgefield, South Carolina, married Keziah Watson, and then settled in Barnwell County. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and elsewhere. Includes ancestry and genealogical data about the Willis and related families in England to the early 1500s.
