Issacher Jenkins was born ca. 1790 in Newberry County, South Carolina, the son of Thomas and Maris Grant Jenkins. He married Esther Pearson, daughter of Enoch and Hannah Buffington Pearson, in 1811 in Miami County, Ohio. They had seven children, 1814-1828. The family migrated from Miami County, Ohio, to Elkhart County, Indiana, in the 1830s. He died in Miami County, Ohio, in 1851, while there on a visit. Descendants listed lived in Indiana, Iowa, and elsewhere.
