Hosea Smith's grandfather, Joseph Smith (ca. 1712-1780), was one of the settlers of Perquimans County, North Carolina. His father, John Smith (1745-1797) married 1) Lovey Hosea, daughter of Abraham Hosea and 2) Mary Simons. Hosea Smith, son of John and Lovey Smith, was born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, in 1773. He married Huldah Harrell Wilson, daughter of Silas and Mary Harrell and widow of Jonathan Wilson, in 1795 in Perquimans County, North Carolina. They had five children, 1798-1817. He died in 1846. Record includes children, grandchildren, and some great grandchildren.

Includes the Alexander, Stuckey, Crow, and other related families.

Also includes a pedigree chart of the ancestors of Hosea Smith showing descent from Robert Smith (d. 1692/93 in Berkeley County, North Carolina) and Robert Hosea (of Pererquimans County, North Carolina); and a copy of a marriage bond, 1741, signed by John Smith and Abraham Hosea.
