Notes

Peter Whittinghill (ca. 1752-1844) was possibly an immigrant from Germany. There are several theories as to his origins, none proven. He married Catherine Gabhart, born in Augusta Co., Virginia, the daughter of Mapheas Gabhart and Christina, immigrants from Germany. Descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Connecticut, Florida, and elsewhere.
