The Grantee general index contains two indexes: the sub-index must be searched to find where in the main index the names appear. These indexes appear in front of each alphabetical letter or groups of letters.
The Grantor index is arranged by consonants or like-sounding surnames, then by first letter of the given name. There seems to be some sort of phonetic arrangement involved.
