Contents: Warnells in Europe and in eighteen century South Carolina -- First two generations of Warnells in Georgia -- William Edward Arnell (1818-1897) -- William Jordan Warnell (1845-1926), his wife, Louis (Edwards) Warnell (1844-1923) and their children -- Smart : an allied family -- Stubbs : an allied family.

Asa Warnell (1796-1869), son of William Warnell, moved from Beaufort District, South Carolina to Liberty County, Georgia about 1800, served in the War of 1812, and married Lauranna Smart in 1818. They had eleven children, 1818-1848. Record chiefly follows line of descent to William Jordan Warnell (1845-1926) and some descendants. He was born in Library County, Georgia, served in the Civil War, and married Louis America Edwards, daughter of Daniel Huger and Elizabeth Jane Archer Edwards in 1866. They had eight children, 1866-1890. He died at the home of a daughter at Tifton, Georgia. His daughter Leila Fountian Warnell (b. 1866) married Wesley Thomas Hargret and was the author's mother.
