The Stroud name appears in York County as early as 1696. Thomas Stroud was born ca. 1735 and married ca. 1756 to an Elizabeth. Benjamin Stroud is the alleged son of Thomas and Elizabeth Stroud. He was born ca. 1775, married first Sarah Hogg and then in 1799 Elizabeth Wright Campbell. Allied families were Hansford, Crockett, Mills, White, Enderbrock, Mitchell, and others.
