Notes

Microfilm made of manuscript collection (ca.1500 leaves) of genealogical research papers from the Mildred Hooper collection, Quincy, Illinois.

Genealogical research papers of Mildred Hooper, chiefly involving research in Illinois, in Adams and Cook Counties, Illinois, and among German descendants in Illinois and elsewhere, with some on their ancestry in Germany. Some of this German ancestry deals with Kosyan (Kosygan) ancestry in the United States and Germany, and also with Hooper ancestry and descendants in Illinois, Missouri, Florida and elsewhere. Much of this genealogical data seems to have been done for other individuals throughout the United States, whose ancestors had been in Illinois for a time (some correspondence is included with such data). Many of the church records were collected from Protestant and Roman Catholic churches in Quincy, as well as their cemeteries. Public records were also collected from town and county sources, and some federal records (chiefly census, etc.). Usually citations are given for page and volume of local records.

Includes a 1961 listing of the names of members of the Quincy branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The predominant surnames in this small branch were Dennis, Doan, Fuller, Howard, Mann, Wayman and others.

Includes Bliss, Hibbs, Lamb, Lampert, McNeal, O'Farrell, Terwelp, Tobias, Vasen, Wehling, Wissing, Wolkitt and other families.
