Samuel Miles (ca. 1740-1811) married Sarah James in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1760. They had nine children, 1760-1781. The family lived in Baltimore, Maryland, were most of the children were born. He served during the Revolution as a quartermaster. The family moved to Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1780, to Franklin County, Virginia, in 1792, and to Shelby County, Kentucky, ca. 1800. He died in Shelby County, Virginia. Descendants lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Washington, Oregon, Missouri, and throughout the United States and elswhere.
