"The following material is from Bible records [Bible of William Millsaps, published 1818] and a letter written in 1868 by Billy Millsaps ... born 10 Jan. 1797 in Greene County, Tenn. It has been contributed by Florence (Millsap) Raubinger ... Champaign, Illinois ..."

Thomas Millsap was born in Ireland and married Mary Poplin. They had at least four sons, ca. 1717-1721. The family emigrated from Ireland, ca. 1735 and settled near Staunton, Virginia. He died in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1759. Children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren listed lived in North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Illinois. The surname is listed as Millsap and Millsaps.
