Johannes Gohn and his wife, Anna Rosina, emigrated from Germany and settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1738. He died in York County, Pennsylvania, ca. 1771. His great grandson, Abraham Coon, was born in 1810 in Madison County, Ohio, the son of John and Rachel Smith Coon. He married Elizabeth Yarborough, daughter of William and Permelia Parker Yarborough, in 1830 at Saint Clare, Illinois. They had ten children, born in Illinois and Iowa. The family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1839 in Illinois, and migrated to Utah in 1850 with the Latter-day Saint pioneers. He died in 1855 at Salt Lake City, Utah. Descendants live in Utah, Idaho, and elsewhere.
Includes the Hawkins, Hardman, Baker, Gardner, and other related families.
