Contains "more than 468,000 name entries ... Among the dozens of sources ... there are three main types: city and town directories, which account for about 200,000 entries; land records, which yielded 150,000; and marriage records, which identified 85,000 people. Other sources, such as birth and death records, and including some obscure publications never before indexed, provided ... thousands of other names.... In addition to listing members of any family, of whatever ethnic origin, living in Quebec during the 300-year period covered, we have also listed French persons living a century ago in every province of Canada, including those of Métis extraction and the Acadians ..."--Introd.
