The South African Constabulary, established October 1900, was known in the Free State as the ORC Contingent. It was called the ORC Police in 1908 and incorporated with the South African Police in 1913. The officer files may include full name, place and date of birth, wife's maiden name; number, ages and names of children; address of next of kin, and work experience. The service records include brief personal descriptions: birth date, homeland, marital status, address of next of kin, physical appearance, religion, and occupation.
