Alney McLean was born 10 June 1779 in Burke Co., North Carolina. He came with his parents to Tennessee after the Revolutionary War, and by 1799 settled in Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky. He married Tabitha Russell Campbell 16 November 1805 in Tennessee and they reared a family of ten children. Alney died in 1841. Descendants lived primarily in Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Flordia, Louisiana and elsewhere.
