Nicholas Francis Gibson is the earliest known ancestor. He was born ca 1796 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. Nicholas married Elizabeth Bowen ca 1820. Three children were born of this marriage. Nicholas died in 1860 in Bath Co. and Elizabeth died on 27 June 1856. As Saints traveled west, more settlements were established in New Mexico and Colorado. Thus the Gibson family settled in Colorado.
