Notes

Pedigree chart, with lineage shown on both sides of the chart, as follows: (1) ancestry of Sir John de Bottetort (1318-1372) of Weoblet Castle, great grandson of King Edward I (1239-1307) of England, and further ancestry beyond William the Conqueror in 1066 (thereby involving nobility in France and the rest of Europe); and (2) descendants of Sir John de Bottetort (1318-1372) to Ann Welles (ca.1619-1680), who emigrated from England to Hartford, Connecticut with her father, Sir Thomas Welles (1598-1659/1660), a Puritan who immigrated in 1636 and became governor of Connecticut. Ann Welles married Thomas Thomson (1610-1655) in 1646; he had immigrated in 1635 to Springfield, Massachusetts, and later moved to Hartford and then Farmington, Connecticut. Descendants (spelling the surname Thompson by the third generation and thereafter) and relatives lived in New England, New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, California and elsewhere. The additional surnames traced connect the "de Bottetort" line with the Thompson line. Many other surnames are shown on both sides of the pedigree chart.

Includes two indexes--one of prominent persons (chiefly nobility in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe); and one of surnames only.

Includes Farham (Farnum), Fulwood, Gunne, Mytton, Tomes, Welles and related families.

Also available on microfilm.
