Descendants of Joseph Ball, Sr. (b. 1783), who was born in Franklin Co., Va. and died during the Civil War. He was married to Catherine Comer (b. 1792) in Monroe Co., Va. in 1812. She was the daughter of Augus- tus Comer and Catherine Rush. This family came to Boone Co., W. Va. abt. 1846 and settled on Hewett Creek.
