"Ramo de Tierras" es una serie documental en el Archivo General de la Nación que conserva un extenso fondo del período colonial (1523- 1822) que trata de los asuntos legales vinculados a la propiedad territorial, tales como títulos de composición y deslinde de pueblos, haciendas, y ranchos; la repartición de tierras y aguas; la designación y fraccionamiento de ejidos de los pueblos; y otros muchos agravios resultando del despojo de los pueblos indígenas conquistados.

Cada vol. de la serie comprende varios expedientes. Recopilaciones de éstos en cuanto a fechas, localidades, litigantes, y materia de la diligencia se hallan en los índices preparados por personal del Archivo General de la Nación y publicados en su Boletín.

"Ramo de Tierras" is an extensive collection of legal documents from the Mexican colonial period (1523-1822) representing complaints arising from the expropriation of native lands and properties by the Spanish government. Each vol. in the series comprises several cases, each of which is summarized in the corresponding index prepared by staff of the Mexican National Archive and published in its Bulletin.
