Robert Godfrey Norton was born in 1783 on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, the son of William Norton. His wife, Sarah Moss? Norton, daughter of George Moss?, was born in 1790 on St. Helena Island. They had at least one son and four daughters. The daughters were born at Black Swamp, South Carolina, but the years of birth are not given. He died at age 79 in Beaufort District, South Carolina. She died at age 77 at Robertville, South Carolina. Their son, Dr. Alexander R. Norton (1812-1881), was born on the May River, South Carolina. Julia E. Green (1811?-1881), daughter of John and Aurilla Green was born in Screven County, Georgia. They were married in 1833. They had eight children, 1834-1849, born at Robertville, South Carolina. He died at Stockton, Clinch County, Georgia. Includes Norton grandchildren born in Georgia.
