James Shearer was born in Armaugh County, Ireland in about 1735. He immigrated to America and married Anna Lenna (ca. 1739-1822) in about 1762 in Campbell County, Virginia. They had seven known children. James died in about 1784. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri and elsewhere.
