Phillip Ballard was born ca. 1705 in Essex County, Virginia. He married Ann Nancy Johnson ca.1733 in Orange County, Virginia. They had 11 children there. Of these children, only Larkin, the 8th, died out of state (Kentucky). Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Utah, Arizona, California, Maryland, Illinois and elsewhere.
