Descendants of John Ellis (ca. 1630-1669) born in England and his wife, Elizabeth Joanes (ca. 1639-1668), also born in England. John Ellis died in Kent Co., Maryland. He was transported from England to the area of Nansemond, Va. in 1642 by Thomas Emerson and later from Virginia to Maryland in 1649 by Puritan leader, George Puddington. He and his wife had six children, five born in Kent Co., Maryland. Descendants and family members live in Maryland, Virginia, Kentycky, Missouri, Kansas and elsewhere.
